Sin of Prayerlessness – Prayerless Restless Confused

The prophet Samuel said: “Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way” (1Samuel 12:23). Prayer opens up your heart and mind to access the Spirit of God, be attentive to the Word of God, and learn the ways of God to understand, discern and walk in the right and good way wherein the blessings of God flow.

Prayerlessness is sin in the eyes of God as you cut off communication with your heavenly Father and thereby become isolated without divine relationship, assistance, intervention and communion to calm, stabilize your soul and make you whole. The sin of prayerlessness undermines your personal health (mental, emotional and physical) and overall well-being. To be prayerless is to hinder your potential, slow the progress toward and fulfillment of your destiny and derail your future.

Praying, whether short or long, is vitally important to remain connected to God. “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: but your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear” (Isaiah 59:1-2). Beware of the sin of unbelief, a subtle evil that creeps in, enters your heart and causes your spiritual life to become stagnant, dull, lethargic and cease to grow and progress (see Hebrews 3:12; Romans 14:23). You are either living in faith or unbelief, the latter of which is sin and causes you to depart from the living God and gravitate toward works of darkness, fleshly lusts and go around in circles in the wilderness as you become overly fixated on yourself.

Sin, iniquity, fear, self-consciousness, fixating on yourself and your inadequacies, living in unbelief and departing from the living, loving, life-giving God is sin as it leaves you in a state of self-centeredness, self-sufficiency and short-circuits you possibilities and opportunities in God. After all, when man’s ability ends, God’s ability begins. We therefore need to be prayerful and lean into our heavenly Father. Know God is willing, able and desirous to fill, lead, guide, bless and prosper you as you partner humbly, attentively and consistently with Him (allowing the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you into the fullness of the blessing of Christ for your life).

As you give God the glory, He will surely give you the victory and lift you up to where you belong in Him. Therefore, be prayerful, not prayerless. Cultivate childlike faith by making your requests known to God and let the peace of God rule your heart and mind as you cast your cares on Him, trusting God to do what you cannot and to assist you daily every step of the way and uphold you along your way. Being prayerless is therefore not only sinful, but quite frankly foolish because it minimizes your possibilities and opportunities. Being prayerful conversely gives God Almighty something to work with and sets miracles in motion on your behalf daily.

Enjoy the journey of life my friend and be prayerful with childlike faith to truly live (Romans 1:17) and step into the fullness of all God has for you (Romans 15:29). Only believe and you will see the glory of God (John 11:40).
