Overcoming Adversity Speaker

Overcoming adversity is part of life. The quicker you recognize adversity is part of life and that there will be some suffering and sacrifice along the way, the more equipped for reality, hardship and your destiny you will be. As anyone who has traveled the world knows, there will be challenges, hardships, bumpy roads, delayed flights, airport irritations, annoying people around you sometimes, but if you love to travel, you are willing to endure the light afflictions for the joy and invigoration of leaving home to explore and see new places few ever do.

Overcoming adversity is something I have done since birth. I was born and found myself in an oxygen tent the first 30 days of my life as my mother was a smoker. What you do with your body effects your babies people (fathers and mothers). Thereafter, following surviving that ordeal, a year or so later, my parents divorced and I was living through more turbulence. Thankfully, my grandparents stepped up and intervened to help stabilize my life and care for me.

Then in 5th grade my father and stepmother took custody of me, perhaps because my father wanted to put me to work for his own benefit, but also to teach me how to be a young man. It proved to be a win-win for both of us, plus I got to spend time with my father. Only a father or grandfather can teach a boy to be a man, but truly a father closer to the son’s age has a unique strength, tenacity, intuition and ability to teach things to the son that nobody else can.

Manhood is about mastery, cultivating awareness, skill, sensitivity, being alert, awaking to your gifts, talents, abilities, potential, purpose and how to step into it progressively with wisdom and boldness. Overcoming adversity is most certainly part of growth and the process. Invite me to your city and country for more tips and insights on overcoming adversity, manhood, process and fulfilling your lifelong purpose.
